Hotels allow you to pass time quickly by sleeping for up to 2x 8 hours. First talk to the Hotel Concierge behind the counter to pay for the night, this will open a door. Behind it you'll find your bed and can select how long you'd like to sleep.
The point of all this is to wait until your wounds have healed or hoping for more advantageous guild missions to become available.
